March is almost over and I wanted to contribute one more post to the Everything’s coming up Irish Theme! To Rebecca and all you bloggers, newlywed or not, single moms, too, this blessing is for your homes.
Here is a blessing to recite when entering or to post at the door of a couple’s new home.
May God Bless this home
All who live here
And all who visit here.
May your home be filled
With God’s love and the love
You share with one another.
May peace, harmony, and laughter
Be yours in abundance
As long as you live.
May you have all the happiness
Your Irish heart can hold.
May the angels and saints
Watch over the newborn,
The growing sons and tender daughters,
And all your kith and kin.
May your home tend the sick,
Rest the weary, comfort the dying,
Calm the suffering, pity the afflicted,
Protect the joyous ones.
May God Bless your home
With His presence
Until you reach your final home – Heaven.

Beautiful Irish blessing! We are going to Ireland next month for the first time.
Sandy,
Oh how wonderful that you are going to Ireland. We are hoping to get there in the next couple years!
Blessings on you and your trip.
We are building a new home on a ranch in Texas. There is a planned “Placing of the Blessing” ceremony when the foundation is laid. Even though our children are grown, this is a beautiful sentement for our family and for furture families who may live in this home one day. Thank you. I have been looking and looking for something special.
Hello,
Do the Irish have a gift tradition for moving into a new home. We recently received a gift from an Italian friend who brought a gift basket with salt for good luck, bread so that go never go hungry and wine so that you will always have laughter and happiness.
Thank you for your help,
Kathleen
