My Works for Me Wednesday tip for you is that you still have time to enjoy summer in the great outdoors without all the latest fancy shmancy equipment! Check it out…

Load up the kids and go to the mountains! Remember your thermos and brown bag lunch. Oh and of course you shouldn’t forget the curler for your bangs! What is up with that Kathy? Ellen b. is stylin’ in her sun dress with her sensible hiking shoes and white socks. Looks like both Kathy and Vera are sporting the bare midriff look. And Fred won’t lose his trousers with those suspenders! See people, you don’t need the latest equipment from REI to have a fun trip to the great outdoors!

So true. We need to go camping still.
We have mountains nearby and one in particular is fun to go visit because it has a little cafe at the top that serves THE BEST pies made from scratch! We drive up just for the pie.
Thanks for sharing.
You are right. Thanks.
Not one, but two Thermos bottles! Maybe that’s why you like coffee now…
Those pictures are priceless! Kathy’s bang curler is killin’ me!!! Varenya punch is what I remember from those outings!
That is adorable!
Those are great pictures!
Excellent – we’re looking forward to our camping trip coming up soon – we booked soooo late this year.
My WFMW is on camping too — HELP!!!!
OH … this looks like so much fun!!! I’m hoping to get out to the mountains with my family soon.
I’ve been bogged down with baby showers lately. I made my first diaper cake. Check it out: http://blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/southern/
Great pictures, I love the curler! LOL
Kelli
That’s so true that you don’t need all the latest stuff and fancy equipment. Great pictures!
Hey, if ya got your curler…ya got just about everything!
Ha! Great stuff! I guess your post reminds us that we need to take pictures on those hikes!
Yes, ma’am, you are absolutely right. And we’re obeying this WFMW tip by going to the mts one more time before September–I can hardly wait!
Sure did recognize the single curler in the bangs; I have my own picture like that! As a 7 yr. old I thought that one curler made the most glorious curl across the top of my forehead, especially if you applied it to wet bangs and let it dry. I really wasn’t aware that others were privy to that particular beauty secret. You girls were obviously as cutting edge as I was.
How priceless those old pictures are. Kathy looks like Baba.
And to think, that was only half of the kids to come. Wonderful, wonderful family.
Ok, I have no idea what was up with the curler. It must have have very important for both Vera and I to have it. The midriff tops were pretty daring. Vera’s poise is something else too.
Thanks for the memories.
