Succulents offer dazzling possibilities for garden design and require only minimal maintenance to remain lush and alluring year round. Their water retaining qualities make them easy to care for plants.
Succulents are well suited as houseplants, in rock gardens, or nestled into the perennial garden.

Succulents offer a wide variety of flowers as well as an intriguing display of foliage.

This is Larry the Cucumber’s cousin. His name is Cal the Cactus. His mother married “out” of her vegetable group. Cal’s cousins complain that it’s hard to get close to Cal. He’s a bit abrasive and not at all touchy feely.
If you aren’t growing succulents, finding a spot for them in the home or garden won’t be difficult, and you’re sure to be pleased with the results.

Love it! My WA succulents are happy that it is getting warmer. They went a little dormant during the cold snap but they are starting to really pop now!
These pictures take me right back to my childhood years, just a couple of years but definitely some favorite ones, when I lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We had a courtyard at the front of our house that my room looked out onto. I loved seeing the cactus bloom. Thanks for these pictures.
So cool! I love succulents in all their varied shapes and sizes, but I must admit that I’m nervous about growing them. I don’t know what to do for them as they grow!
I love Cal the Cactus. I totally see him!
Do you want some? I am going to Santa Barbara tomorrow to dig some up in a friend’s garden and bring them to my cottage.
Hi Ellen,
