Wrapping It Up…

This will be the final post from our time at Dan’s.

This is one of the horses that live next door coming over to say hi.

Several White Tail Deer come to visit to eat apples, plums or cherries from Dan’s trees.

We are looking forward to visiting again to take care of more projects on the property. Because of weather that visit probably won’t happen till the Spring.

Today I’m thankful for Dan’s good neighbors (besides the horses and deer). These neighbors all look out for each other and each other’s properties. It is good for this mom’s heart knowing even though Dan lives out alone on several acres there are those who know he is there and watch out for him.

The Grace Challenge continues with specific things I am grateful to God for. I’m also thankful for the chance to celebrate Communion today and remembering with gratitude what Christ has done for me.

  1. It is good to know that he lives in not only a beautiful neighborhood, but also with beautiful neighbors. He will knit himself into that community very nicely. What a lot of wildlife and the horse is terrific.

  2. Your photographs are beautiful, Ellen! dans place looks very peaceful. Im glad he has good neighbors.

I have been voluteering at a temporary shelter In Brooklyn the past few days for people that lost their homes due to Hurricane Sandy. It is wonderful to see how many people are helping and donating goods that are dearly needed.

  3. Sounds like he gets a bit of snow….bet it’s gorgeous. Neighbors are a wonder. The neighbors on either side of my mother in law (94yrs) allow her to stay in her home with all they do for her. Hope you have a good week!

  4. What a beautiful place, and fun place to take pictures! I’m envious. I was just commenting to my hubby that I need to stop by a local farm and ask permission to wander about their fields with my camera!

  5. I enjoyed the photos of Dan’s new surroundings. I’m happy for your mom heart knowing he has good neighbours. I’m sure he will have a mom- to- do list for you by the time you visit next.

  6. Lovely pics! Know what you mean about being glad there are folks looking out for your kids. When our older son’s wife left, I was so grateful there were people close by who could care for him and since we were 4 hours away. It does relieve a mother’s heart!

  7. Imagine, 20 years ago….no one would understand your satisfaction with your son getting a land line!
Dan’s place looks like man-heaven – old buildings, horse next doo, acres of wild land…..but I understand a mother’s gratitude for his good neighbours.

  8. This looks like a scene straight out of “Witness”! I LOVE IT!!!!!! SO relaxing, so serene…just what the doctor ordered! I need to get away to some sort of retreat like this for a few days to just regroup. This would be the perfect place for me to be after my shoulder surgery in a few weeks! It would sure make the time more pleasant!
