Tablescape Thursday ~ Yorkshire

Time to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescapes from around the Sphere.

Oopsie I bought some new/old dishes this week that I thought would be fun for a Thanksgiving Table. Now my dilema is how to get them up to Seattle for Thanksgiving this year. These dishes are Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Ironstone made in England. I got 36 pieces for $55.00. That comes out to about $1.54 per piece. I bought these at Goodwill.

I really enjoy dishes with English country scenes. I don’t have much in the Thanksgiving decorating realm here at the condo in California so I scrounged around to try to create something that might feel like harvest.

These are the 36 pieces that I purchased.

Be sure to visit Susan to see lots of fun table settings!

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

  1. Very nice! I have similar dishes (Johnson Bros) with similar colors. I love using them in the Fall. They have been passed down three generations in our family. You have a nice set here and a good bargain!

  2. What a great find. Living in California, I know what you mean about the fall leaves and stuff here. We don’t get the lovely colors as they change for the fall. They’ll be perfect for Thanksgiving in Seattle. And will cheer up the festivities. I grew up near there and love the green and rain. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Beautiful china and I aslo would have bought it girl..Loved seeing this my friend..and here on my mountain top in Calif I do have the colors of the trees chaging…May you have a great day…Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

  4. Ellen-You didn’t say where you found them did you? I don’t have a thing like that and would really love to have some. I love napkin rings , so, of course, I noticed those cute pear ones! I guess shipping them to Seattle would negate the bargain price 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  5. The pattern on your new dishes really depicts “harvest” and seem so very appropriate for Thanksgiving! I like what you came up with for your tablescape, it does look fall-ish!

  7. Just love the richness, splendor and season charm of this table setting, Ellen…ig it gorgeous and perfect for Thanksgiving…Make me want a slice of pumpkin pie now! :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

  8. Wow, Ellen…what a score! Just goes to show how GW is such a treasure seekers paradise. I never tire of going there . I hope to find beautiful dishes like these some day. Your table looks gorgeous! I’m soooo jealous!

  9. How beautiful, I can taste the turkey and cranberry sauce already. Those are some great dishes and perfect for the Thanksgiving table. The price wasn’t bad either.

  10. Ellen,

These dishes are sooooo beautiful! You impress me always with being able to come up with creative tablesettings with things you “scrounge around” for in your condo! 🙂

    Blessings.

  11. (kicking self)…okay, I consider myself a great shopper who finds terrific deals but this takes the cake. You practically stole those dishes. I cannot believe how little you paid for such a beautiful set. Your presentation of the set is equally beautiful. You’ve demonstrated that a 5 star table setting doesn’t always have to come at a 5 star price. Thank you for the inspiration.

  12. Your table looks beautiful, Ellen and I think it will be perfect for Thanksgiving. I love toile too, all the pretty scenes that are out there. I just bought 6 black and white toile salad plates and I am trying to come up with something that’s not too modernistic…

I love the pears around the leaf arrangement. Everything looks wonderful, Ellen

  13. Ellen, what a great deal on those beautiful dishes. Yes, they are perfect for fall and for Thanksgiving. You got a big enough set to serve friends and family too. I sure hope you can get them back home! These remind me of the plates I used on my tablescape today (with the English cottages), so you know I like them! Your tablescape is so pretty. laurie

  14. What an amazing find! I adore dishes with country scenes. This table is so delightful. Thanks for sharing. Life has been coming at me fast so I didn’t get a table done for this week. Hope to be back next week with something to share. ~ Sarah

  15. Gorgeous! I love the dishes. The country scenes and color are perfect for a fall table. For “scrounging” around, you certainly set a lovely table. 🙂

    Have a fabulous weekend.

  16. I love your dishes, and that is a great price when you look at the individual amount. I would love to be able to have something this special for Thanksgiving. Problem is having nowhere to store it for the rest of the year.

  17. Ellen ; I bought the whole set of Yorkshire ( Iron Stone ) dishes fifty years ago and raised my family with the familar table settings on our table every day. I am over 70 years now and have been wanting to replace this set of beloved dishes but didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find any but having seen the few peices that you show on this web page would love for you to contact me .

  18. Ellen, I bought the whole set of Yourshire ( Iron Stone ) dishes about fifty years ago and have raised my family with the familiar dishes on our table every day. I have been wanting to find replacements only to find that it is very difficult to do so. I saw your web page showing the few pieces of this pattern and would love for you to contact me. Thank You
